How To Plan For 2026

Happy New Year! It’s now January and officially the start to 2026! It’s that time where we prepare for the year ahead and put our new plans into action.

So, while we’re all beginning to focus on our goals for the year, we wanted to share a short list of how you can include your business’s real estate needs too.

#1. Review Your Real Estate Expenses

Real estate is often a top line item of any business’s budget, which means any savings in this category could be substantial! This is why it is important for business owners to frequently review and double check any rent escalations on the horizon and reconcile operating expenses.

Some leases are set up for the property manager to charge the tenant for any differences in the budgeted vs. actual costs of the nets/operating expenses at the end of each year, so this could be a bill to look out for. And sometimes, fortunately, the tenant will have the right to audit these differences if they see fit, so make sure you know what your lease allows.

#2. Double Check Important Dates

One of our Three Pillars of Success is timing, so business owners should never lose sight of their lease expiration date. Furthermore, if your lease provides a lease renewal option, knowing the deadline for this is just as important, so be sure to set reminders for that date as well.

#3. Evaluate Your Needs
